SHORT CV

Theoni Stathopoulou is sociologist, research director at the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) in Athens, Greece with extensive experience in cross-cultural survey methodology. She serves at the Sectorial Scientific Council for Social Sciences of the National Council for Research and Innovation, the supreme advisory body for the formulation and implementation of the national policy for Research in Greece and the Hellenic Foundation of Research and Innovation. She is alternate representative of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) at the Hellenic Statistical Advisory Board of the Hellenic Statistical Authority. In 2018 she joined the faculty of the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (HPRT), part of the continued education of the Harvard Medical School.   She is scientifically responsible for the CLARIN infrastructure for language and technologies at EKKE. Her recent publications on migration include:  Surveying the hard-to-survey. Refugees and Unaccompanied minors in Greece (2019). In M. Suarez-Orozco  (Ed.), Humanitarianism and Mass Migration, California University Press.  She is guest editor in two special issues: (2018) Health in crises: migration, austerity and inequalities in Greece and other European countries, European Journal of Public Health,  Oxford Univeristy Press; The European Refugee Crisis, forthcoming in the Journal of Refugee Studies. Oxford Univeristy Press.
