Infrastructure development for the production and management of data in the social sciences.
In this paper we will attempt to explore/outline the regulatory framework of the use of data, particularly when they belong to the category of so-called “personal” data, in the context of research infrastructures and especially in the light of the application of the General Data Protection Regulation. These issues have a crucial impact on social research and in particular on the availability of social data through research infrastructures. At the same time, the ethical and legal issues that arise in relation not only to personal data, but also to open and free access to the content of infrastructures and to the conditions for ensuring the legitimate use of digital databases for data collection and/or provision, will be highlighted so that the contribution can be used as a brief guide to compliance with the current relevant regulatory framework.
