Inequality and segregation in Athens: Maps and data

This entry aims to highlight inequalities and divisions in Athens in relation to a number of thematic areas, such as employment, education and housing. A key tool is the mapping of these inequalities and divisions, which led to the production of 180 maps. In order to increase the visibility of the spatial structure of inequalities and divisions in Athens, 17 dynamic maps were constructed, each of which successively depicts the distribution schemes of the categories it contains. In addition to the thematic sections contained in this entry, there are two sections where mapping is the result of multi-section data synthesis methods. These are the sections that concern the social standardization of the residential areas of the city and the identification of the deprived areas.
