Greek national identity: Markers and significations

This paper attempts to lend an ear to the true subjects of national identity: the members of the nation. Taking the concept of identity markers as a starting point, we trace the national identity pathways of the intercultural schools’ teachers in Attiki Prefecture. Based on the markers referring to the ideal and real national self, to national time and the subjective understanding of nation, we uncover four distinct identity narratives, four versions of modern Greek national identity.
