The need for the emergence of a new European Social Model, for the protection of social rights in times of economic crisis

The article initially presents the core characteristics of the European Social Model. Then, with Eurostat and other surveys, it also describes the current situation in specific areas of social policy and social justice, such as those of minimum wages, unemployment and poverty, social rights in particular in the countries of the  European South, in order to explain the reasons which have led to the depreciation and degradation of the social state.  It also attempts to highlight the new challenges faced by the European social model in times of economic crisis, to propose guidelines for its revival, to highlight the potential risks of the legitimacy deficit that is created.
