Housing production and energy use in Greece. Insights from history and new social challenges.

The aim of this article is to investigate the social challenges that emerged in the context of the crisis concerning households’ access to energy. Through studying housing production and energy use in the Greek cities from a historical perspective, the article intends to highlight the obstacles and the opportunities households face with regards to dealing with their energy needs and to assess policies promoted by the central government, Non-Governmental Organizations’ actions and initiatives undertaken by grassroots concerning domestic energy consumption.
