Prefatory Note: Conversing About the Pandemic
In this –special– issue of the Review, you will find texts (short or longer) concerning the pandemic and its social repercussions due to the profound crisis it has caused. This issue will remain open for as long as this crisis persists, allowing social and political scientists to write and express their views. Everyone, regardless of their field of expertise, is welcome to contribute to the dialogue.
It should be noted that many of the texts in this issue were finalized during the quarantine period and, as such, reflect a (snapshot) moment of the loss of normalcy.
The crisis, of course, affects our country, Europe, and the rest of the world. Due to its globalized nature, it has multifaceted characteristics (manifested on both collective and individual levels) and countless challenges in terms of how it is addressed.
In relation to this matter, the following text presents some thoughts – in the form of a dialogue – by the authors, culminating in a (new?) proposal of ten key points for sociology and research.
