Class, Trauma. Identity: Psychosocial Encounters

The chapter introduces the reader to the conceptual building blocks of the book, the overarching questions, the core methodological choices, and the epistemological and ethical implications of these choices. Identity, class trauma, and their dialectics form the conceptual spine of the study, which brings together various streams of research and disciplines, including interactionism, psychoanalysis, cultural sociology, stratification research, social history, geography, and biographical and narrative studies. A brief outline of the book is also presented, along with the recurring themes of the study, namely the dialectics of identification, classed trauma, the new social divide, and the dualities of the popular.
