The Green and Digital Future of Work in Greece Towards 2050

Charalambos Tsekeris and Epaminondas Christophilopoulos analyze scenarios on how work will change in the future and how we can adapt to the challenges that are expected to arise. Work is a domain intrinsically linked to all aspects of life. The so-called “twin transition” (green and digital) is anticipated to radically transform the labor market, skills, and the economy, making the strengthening of social cohesion imperative.

In this rapidly evolving and complex (“raplex”) environment, it is essential for ordinary citizens, unions, governments, and international organizations to first understand the ongoing changes and then take action to address them. In this context, the three scenarios for work and technology by 2050, developed by the Millennium Project, offer a valuable and comprehensive foundation for a more long-term approach to thinking. They also highlight a range of aspects that require coordinated global policies.

This forward-looking perspective underscores the importance of collective action in navigating the future of work amidst transformative global shifts.
