The Regulatory Framework of Research Infrastructure Data: Ethical and Legal Issues
In this
presentation, we will attempt to explore/outline the regulatory framework for
the use of data, particularly when the data belong to the category of so-called
"personal" data, within the context of research infrastructures, and
especially under the lens of the implementation of the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR). These issues are crucial for social research, particularly
regarding the dissemination of social data through research infrastructures. At
the same time, ethical and legal issues will be highlighted, related not only
to personal data but also to open and free access to the content of
infrastructures and the conditions for ensuring the lawful use of digital data
collection or provision databases. The presentation aims to serve as a brief
compliance guide with the relevant regulatory framework in force.
