The project aims to explore counterurbanization mobilities and phenomena in time of crisis in Greece. The recent economic crisis, which particularly affects urban households, enhances public discussion on rural resilience and return-back-to the countryside and the agricultural land. Nowadays the rural is emerging as a place of refuge offering employment opportunities, especially in farming and rural entrepreneurship, and a better living environment. Nevertheless it is often overlooked that the economic crisis is also affecting rural households in many ways. Drawing on research findings in the Greek countryside, the project proposes to explore aspects and dynamics of the crisis and the rural resilience through narratives of incoming urbanites. The analysis is highlighting the increasing mobility of people between the urban and rural, in search of job opportunities and of social and economic security in a time of a generalised crisis.
