The Social Economy Observatory, which has been in operation in EKKE since 2012, constitutes a distinct pole of research, documentation and support of the initiatives and activities of Social Economy in Greece. It aims, not only to contribute to the recognition of the Social Economy sector as a distinct scientific field, but also to bring into the light the dynamics and the comparative advantages of the sector in addressing contemporary forms of inequality and social exclusion, particularly in the current circumstances of the economic and social crisis. In this context, the Observatory develops various activities in order to facilitate and promote social dialogue, networking, awareness raising and dissemination of information as well as transfer of know-how on issues related to the Social Economy sector. Moreover, it systematically monitors and studies developments in the sector, with particular emphasis on initiatives for social and work integration of population vulnerable groups, especially persons with psychosocial problems.
