Enjeux résidentiels dans le parc de logements athénien pendant et après la crise: premières remarques issues d'une recherche en cours
This article explores the dynamics and trends of the social geography of Athens, with a focus on the role of built space in the central and dense areas of the city dominated by multi-story buildings (polykatoikia) constructed under the “antiparochi” or exchange system. It relies on a mixed methodology, combining different spatial scales, as well as on questions raised by the research program ISTOPOL. In this article, we focus on two buildings located in the central neighborhoods of Ampelokipi and Agios Panteleimonas, which allows us to conduct a preliminary analysis of the extensive material collected within the research program. Firstly, the article briefly discusses how segregation, as a phenomenon that describes strong spatial, social, economic, professional, ethnic, or other differentiations that are inscribed in urban space, is studied within the Athenian context. Secondly, the article attempts to revisit questions already raised in the scientific debate about contemporary socio-spatial transformations in the southern European space, adopting a micro-scale approach in the analysis of the history of two typical Athenian residential buildings and the current reality of their inhabitants.
