The legal framework of immigration in supranational, national and local level with emphasis on integration issues of immigrants
The article aims to outline the main provisions of the institutional framework governing migration at three interconnected levels, namely the European one, through the existing provisions of primary and secondary EU law, the national one, through the diachronic presentation of the Greek legislation on immigration and the local one through the provision of the institution of the Migrant Integration Councils foreseen by Law 3852/2010 as an essential step for the integration of immigrants in the local communities. Migration policy can be seen as a typical example of a policy of multilevel governance, since issues of immigrant integration involve transnational, national and sub-national actors
